Proposal for a 7 days tour

This tour will cover classic tourist sites in Myanmar that should not be missed. You have the choice of visiting Yangon, Mandalay, Bagan and Inle Lake. If you have 7 days you can combine only 3 places. If you want to cover 4 classic tourist sites, you should allow at least 9 days for travel.

Concerning visits to monuments and places: 

What we mention below in the itinerary is just to give you an idea about the main attractions in each place. You are not obliged to follow exactly what is described in the itinerary. We aim to keep things flexible and modify any details when planning the visit, all according to your wishes.

Day 1 - Arrival in Yangon (presume morning arrival not later than 12:00) 

Transfer to your hotel. Tour of Yangon, including the downtown area and its beautiful colonial architecture, Scott’s (Bogyoke) Market, Chaukhtatgyi reclining Buddha, and late afternoon visit to world famous Shwedagon Pagoda to enjoy the sunset. If you have time in the evening, we can take you to the Chinatown district where you can sample some tasty local street food (hygienic) and enjoy the busy night life. From this area it’s easy to find a taxi by yourself and head back to your hotel. 

Day 2 - Yangon to Bagan by flight (B)

Transfer to airport for flight to Bagan (about 1 hour). Transfer to your hotel.

Discover Bagan, the richest archeological site in Asia, with more than 3,000 stupas and temples. Visit famous pagodas such as Ananda, Thatbyinyu (the highest temple in Bagan), Shwezigon (the most venerable pagoda), Dhammayangyi (the most massive temple), Shwesandaw Pagoda, Gubyaukgyi, and Gubyauknge. Inside the temples, marvel at the ancient mural paintings and frescos from the 11th and 13th centuries. 

End the day with a relaxing sunset boat trip on the Irrawaddy River before heading back to hotel 

Day 3 - Bagan (B)

Today, you will visit some villages around Bagan and a colorful morning market. We will pick you up at your hotel and organize a horse cart ride to take you to the market. Enjoy a leisurely walk around the market, where locals shop each morning. From there we will drive you to the villages of Minanthu, Pwa Saw, New Bagan, and Myinkabar. In these villages you will have a chance to see cotton weaving, cheroot making, lacquerware making and the daily life of the villagers. At the end of the day, we will drop you at one of the highest stupas in the area, where you can enjoy a panoramic sunset view of Bagan.

Day 4 - Bagan to  Heho (Inle Lake) by flight (B)

Transfer to airport for early morning flight to Shan State’s regional Heho Airport. On arrival, transfer  by car (about 45 minutes) to the charming town of Nyaungshwe, near Inle Lake.  If you have hotel accommodation in Nyaungshwe, check-in at your hotel before you start the visit on the lake by boat, or our boatman will wait for you at the jetty and transfer you to your hotel if your accommodation is on the lake.

Boat trip on famous Inle Lake: visit Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda (the holiest religious site in Shan State), lakeside villages (silk weaving on wooden handlooms, demonstrations of canoe making, and blacksmiths), and Nge Phae Kyaung (the “Jumping Cat” Monastery). While on the lake, take photos of the unique leg-rowing fishermen, typical floating gardens, and observe local methods of fishing. 

Day 5 - Inle Lake (B)

We start the day with a visit to a lively floating market on the lake. The location of the market changes each day, rotating around the waterside villages in a 5-day cycle. Afterwards, we head to the southwest corner of the lake and down a small canal that leads to the Pa-Oh village of Indein. On the way, you have a chance to see Intha process of pottery making and boat making. On your arrival at Indein, enjoy a leisurely walk through the village, view the distinctive 11th century Intha stupas  and pagodas, and the monastery.

Day 6 - Inle Lake (Heho) to Yangon by flight (B)

Transfer to Heho Airport for your flight back to Yangon.

Today will be your last day in Myanmar, so enjoy a free day in Yangon by yourself. If you would rather have a set program, we can propose some short visits around Yangon according to your request.

Day 7 - international departure ( B)

Transfer to Yangon airport according to your international departure flight-time.

Tour includes:

  • 7 nights accommodation in a shared twin room or shared double room with daily breakfast
  • Meals as mentioned in the program (B = breakfast, L = Lunch, D = Dinner)
  • All transfers and excursions with private air-conditioned vehicles with drivers
  • Horse cart tours in Bagan
  • Private boat for sunset cruise in Bagan and Inle Lake excursions
  • Domestic flights
  • English-speaking guide throughout the trip or different station guide in each destination

Tour excludes:

  • International ticket to/from Yangon
  • Meals not mentioned (B = breakfast, L = Lunch, D = Dinner)
  • Visa arrangements for Myanmar
  • Visits not mentioned in the program
  • Drinks and personal expenses
  • Tips and porters at the hotels

All trip proposals from our website have been carefully composed by our team, based on our extensive travel experiences in Myanmar. This proposal is a private package. We do not have any regular departure tours that you can join. However, we do understand that some travellers may have specific ideas for their trip, or desire a unique experience of some sort. So, please do not hesitate to tell us more about your needs. This will allow our team to compose a trip according to your individual specifications.

Possible extension information to above trip :

From Yangon, you can extend your trip to other nearby destinations: 2-day trip to Golden Rock; 1-day trips to Bago, Pathein and Ngwe Saung, Mawlamyine.

From the Inle Lake area, you can fly to Kengtung (Kyaing Tong) to do some trekking around the area 4-7 days, then fly back to Yangon. Or you can fly to Ngapali beach, stay a few days there, and continue your trip to Arakan (Rakhine) State (Sittwe and Mrauk U) for 5-day trip (minimum stay) or fly back to Yangon.
